The Golden State Warriors suffered a road loss to the Detroit Pistons, but former Panathinaikos center Omer Yurtseven showed encouraging progress in an expanded role.

The Turkish international, who recently signed a 10-day deal with the San Francisco team, logged his most minutes in a Warriors jersey so far — and his production reflected it.

Yurtseven spent 21 minutes on the court, recording eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal, though it wasn’t enough to help Golden State secure the win in Detroit.

The 27-year-old recently parted ways with Panathinaikos and signed a G League deal with the Houston Rockets’ affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

After impressing in the G League, he caught the attention of the Warriors, who rewarded him with a 10-day contract.

I’m a fan of Omer — he’s a very good player, very talented. He’s a good passer, he can shoot, and he’s had success in the NBA. We’ve only had him for a few days, but I enjoy watching him every day and seeing how he fits with the other guys,” Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said about the Turkish center.
