In a showcase of superstar dominance and roster resilience, the Los Angeles Lakers capped off an arduous road trip with a 137–130 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The win improves the Lakers’ record to 47–26 in the 2025–26 NBA Regular Season, solidifying their grip on the third seed in the Western Conference.

The story of the night was once again Luka Doncic. The 27-year-old Slovenian phenom exploded for 43 points on 15-of-30 shooting, including four critical three-pointers. He added seven assists and five rebounds in 38 minutes of action, marking his 11th consecutive game with at least 30 points. Under head coach JJ Redick, the Lakers have now won 10 of their last 11 games, showing no signs of slowing down after their nine-game winning streak was briefly interrupted Monday in Detroit.

Despite building a 29-point lead in the third quarter, the Lakers had to withstand a late-game surge from Indiana. The Pacers narrowed the gap to seven points with 45 seconds remaining, but veteran poise and clinical free-throw shooting ultimately sealed the 5–1 road trip for Los Angeles. “It’s been a long trip,” Doncic said in the postgame press conference. “We got the win at the end. That’s what matters.”

The game served as a backdrop for the emotional fallout of the NBA trade deadline. In an interview with ClutchPoints, Croatian Ivica Zubac opened up about the “whirlwind” trade that ended his eight-year tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers. Zubac, currently sidelined with a season-ending rib fracture, described the shock of leaving the only franchise he had known for nearly a decade just two days after the birth of his daughter. The center’s presence remains a long-term hope for a Pacers team also missing superstar Tyrese Haliburton. The 26-year-old combo guard, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles, made a rare appearance on the bench Wednesday for the first time since being diagnosed with shingles.

The evening featured a unique crossover of basketball icons as Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was seen on the sidelines working as a credentialed photographer. Doncic, a self-proclaimed fan of the WNBA standout, took time after the game to praise her impact. “She was taking a picture,” he said of Clark. “I’m a big fan, for sure. I watch a lot of games. Definitely her hooping is great to watch. For sure, I got to go in one game to see her.”

Logging 11 minutes, German reserve Maxi Kleber went for two points, four rebounds, two steals, and one assist in Indianapolis.
