The San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season to seven games on Wednesday night, dismantling the Memphis Grizzlies 123-98 at FedExForum. The victory moves the Spurs to a 55-18 record, placing them just two games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top seed in the Western Conference.
French superstar Victor Wembanyama anchored the dominant performance, tallying 19 points on 8/15 field goals, 15 rebounds, seven blocks, three assists, and three steals in just 27 minutes of action. The 22-year-old center finished the third quarter with a staggering +34 plus-minus rating before resting for the final period.
Seven Spurs players finished in double-digits under coach Mitch Johnson, as the team capitalized on an early lead to coast through the second half.
Both European players of the Grizzlies, led by Finnish head coach Tuomas Iisalo, were sidelined. Spain’s Santi Aldama remains out for the season following right knee surgery, while Frenchman Rayan Rupert was on assignment with the G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle.
“A bad start to the game,” 43-year-old Iisalo said postgame. “Going against the Spurs and Wembanyama, it was a riddle we couldn’t solve, especially on the offensive end. We just couldn’t generate enough quality looks.”
Iisalo was high in his praise for the French phenom’s versatility: “I think he gave us issues, to most players in the whole league, because he has strengths to drag the bigger guys out to the perimeter.”
For Wemby, the focus is already shifting toward his first career postseason. Speaking to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News, the Le Chesnay native envisioned a unique atmosphere at the Frost Bank Center for Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Playoffs presented by Google.
“I can also see maybe some French people, because a few times they’ve been there. They really brought their energy connecting with the Jackals,” Wembanyama said, referring to the team’s new high-intensity supporters’ group. “I can only imagine, but I’m super excited. I’m sure they’re going to exceed my expectations.”
