The Milwaukee Bucks franchise icon, Giannis Antetokounmpo, will perhaps consider additional NBA options this summer, with the extensive list of more or less known potential suitors extending to a mystery team in the form of the Orlando Magic, according to NBA analyst Kirk Goldsberry.
“I actually heard there’s a mystery team. I called around as part of this exercise to see who were potentially desperate places for Giannis to land. And somebody who knows stuff told me that Orlando has actually been very active in seeking out Giannis Antetokounmpo’s services,” Goldsberry explained during an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast.
To facilitate such a blockbuster, Orlando would likely have to part with one of their cornerstone pillars, Paolo Banchero or Franz Wagner.
This surge in trade interest comes as the Bucks navigate a nightmare 2025-26 Regular Season. Currently sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference, the team coached by Doc Rivers has lost 11 of its last 14 games, effectively falling out of playoff contention. Adding to the friction is a reported rift between the 31-year-old point forward and management, since the Greek Freak is eager to return from a left knee hyperextension and the front office reportedly prefers to shut him down for the remainder of the season.
The financial stakes are equally volatile. Giannis is currently playing through a massive extension, set to earn $58.4 million in 2026-27. While he becomes eligible for a new four-year, $275 million extension on October 1, Bucks ownership has signaled they will not risk entering the final year of his deal without a commitment.
