The Brooklyn Nets may have defeated a shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks team on Tuesday, but their long-term sights remain set on Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to the New York Post, despite the Nets’ recent shift toward a roster rebuild, the front office is still determined to land the Greek superstar.

The timing of this pursuit has been complicated in the past. Last summer, when Giannis first hinted at a potential exit from Milwaukee, the Nets were occupied with trading Mikal Bridges to the Knicks for a historic haul of draft picks.

Ironically, that move stripped the Knicks of the assets needed to trade for Giannis themselves, leaving Brooklyn in a much stronger position to make a future play.

While the Nets are currently focused on developing their own lottery picks, sources insist the team is not backing down.

They’ll make calls. They’ve made calls in the past,” a source told The Post.

Having hoarded massive draft capital, Brooklyn is positioned to strike when the superstar market eventually shifts.

As Post noted, Nets could be among the first to call Milwaukee this summer, ready to go “all in” to finally secure a franchise-altering leader.
