NBA changed the rules: Doncic and Cunningham available for awards

NBA league has yielded under pressure and changed the rules before the start of the Playoffs, which concerns the awarding of prizes.

Until now, every player in the NBA had to play at least 65 games in the regular season to be in contention for the MVP award, as well as others – a place in one of the best teams, the award for the Defensive player of the year…

However, now the NBA league has changed this, as reported by Shams Charania, so Luka Doncic and Cade Cunningham will have the opportunity to win some of the awards.

“Just in: The NBA and NBPA have ruled in favor of Lakers’ Luka Doncic and Pistons’ Cade Cunningham on their Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge for the 65-game award rule, making both eligible for all 2025-26 season honors such as MVP and All-NBA teams, sources tell ESPN.”

Both have played 64 games this season, one less than required, but the NBA will not take this into account, so there is a good chance that some of the awards will end up in the hands of the Pistons and Lakers stars.
