In the opening round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs, presented by Google, characterized by stars and international depth, the New York Knicks claimed a 1-0 series lead over the Atlanta Hawks with a 113–102 statement win at Madison Square Garden.

While Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns fueled the second-half surge, the game served as a showcase for various European talents. British OG Anunoby proved vital, providing efficiency and defensive grit as a starter. The 28-year-old swingman finished with a strong 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while adding eight rebounds and a steal. However, Poland’s Jeremy Sochan, Germany’s Ariel Hukporti, and the French duo of Pacome Dadiet and Mohamed Diawara did not see action on Saturday night.

French forward Zaccharie Risacher saw limited opportunity with the visitors in Game 1, logging only two minutes of play. While he managed to secure four rebounds during his brief stint, he remained scoreless, missing all three of his attempts from the field.

Game 2 will be played on Monday.
