Spanish basketball will continue to have a presence on NBA sidelines, as the Brooklyn Nets have extended the contract of Jordi Fernández and his entire coaching staff, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
After serving as an assistant under Mike Brown in Sacramento and spending a decade developing his craft in Denver and Cleveland, Fernández joined the Nets in 2024. Both owner Joe Tsai and general manager Sean Marks have placed their trust in the Spanish coach to lead the franchise through its rebuilding phase.
Despite Brooklyn’s current record of 46–118 under his tenure, Fernández has emerged as an important figure for the team’s young core. With experienced players such as Michael Porter Jr. supporting the development of prospects like Egor Demin, Nolan Traoré, and Ben Saraf, the Nets are aiming to secure a strong pick in the upcoming NBA Draft as they look to climb the Eastern Conference standings.
