As the 2026 NBA Draft, presented by State Farm, approaches, the Milwaukee Bucks are increasingly expected to trade franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo. Following a disappointing 32-50 campaign in the 2025-26 Regular Season marred by a fractured relationship between the Greek superstar and the front office, insider reports indicate that both sides are officially aligned on a separation.

The Miami Heat appear to remain frontrunners and the former champion’s preferred destination. The Portland Trail Blazers are also considered strong favorites to land Giannis, though some league analysts note they could also act as a crucial third-team facilitator. Meanwhile, teams like the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics are among those furthering themselves from the fluid situation, while other organizations have drifted way away. Specifically, former suitors like the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves seem to have backed out because the Athens native prefers to remain in the Eastern Conference.

Any finalized transaction will require significant financial maneuvering, given his substantial salary leverage. The Greek Freak is guaranteed 58.5 million dollars for the upcoming season and possesses a lucrative 62.8 million dollar player option for the subsequent year. In exchange for taking on this contract, Milwaukee is operating under the assumption they will secure an additional first-round selection alongside its own number 10 pick on June 23, demanding young, blue-chip talent in return.

Despite the heavy swirling rumors, the 31-year-old point forward reportedly remains open to staying with Milwaukee, his sole NBA home for the past 13 years, adding a distinct layer of mystery to his ultimate future in the league.

Despite appearing in only 36 contests last season due to injury, Antetokounmpo remained characteristically dominant on the floor, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
