Bogdan Bogdanovic stands at the center of a looming free agency chase by the Denver Nuggets, as reported by Serbian outlet Meridian Sport’s Djordje Matic on Thursday.

The Nuggets are eagerly anticipating the June 30 opening of the free-agent market to bolster their championship ambitions ahead of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season. The front office is prioritizing the Serbian guard due to his proven synergy with fellow countryman and superstar Nikola Jokic. They recognize that their on-court chemistry, built during successful runs with the Serbian senior national team, could significantly elevate the performance of the entire roster, as noted by Matic.

Although salary cap constraints previously prevented a roster addition, the Los Angeles Clippers’ expected decision to decline their option will make Bogdanovic an unrestricted free agent, granting the Nuggets the financial flexibility required for recruitment. While European clubs remain interested in the services of the 33-year-old guard, the veteran sniper intends to solidify his legacy and aims to capture an elusive NBA title alongside his compatriot.

Before transitioning to North America in 2017, three years after being drafted by the Phoenix Suns with the 27th overall pick, the Belgrade native established an illustrious legacy in Europe. His continental career was highlighted by a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship with Fenerbahce in 2017, alongside several domestic league titles with both Fener and Partizan. In the NBA, he has accumulated 561 games played over nine years across stints with the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and Clippers.

Sharing the court together, Bogdanovic and Jokic first gained major global recognition at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where they led their country to a silver medal after a hard-fought tournament concluding against the United States. Three years later, they joined forces again at the FIBA World Cup 2019 in China. Most recently, at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the pair guided Serbia to a bronze medal. Their campaign included a thrilling near-upset of Team USA in the Semifinals before they ultimately secured a podium finish with a decisive victory over Germany.
