The Miami Heat have officially exercised their $2.3 million contract option on Pelle Larsson for the upcoming 2026–27 season, securing the versatile shooting guard following a standout sophomore NBA campaign.

The 25-year-old Stockholm native originally entered the league as a second-round draft pick before rapidly carving out a critical role in head coach Erik Spoelstra’s rotation. Long before making his mark in Florida, he developed his game in Europe, playing in the top-flight division of his home country until 2020, before splitting a four-year NCAA run between Arizona and Utah. He also established himself on the international stage with leading performances at the junior level, eventually graduating to the senior national team to suit up for last summer’s EuroBasket 2025.

That rich competitive background translated seamlessly to the NBA, where he started 54 regular-season games in his second year, averaging 11.1 points across both the Regular Season and the 2026 NBA Playoffs, presented by Google.

His rapid development even made him a highly coveted asset in recent league-wide trade discussions. While Larsson was heavily rumored to be part of the negotiation chips, team president Pat Riley managed to finalize a historic blockbuster deal to land Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks while completely keeping the young Swedish guard out of the trade package.

The impending arrival of Antetokounmpo immediately reshapes Miami into a premier championship contender, and Larsson projects to be a vital floor-spacing, defensive glue guy alongside the new core.

Financially, this option move cements Larsson’s roster spot before his contract becomes fully guaranteed.
