The Los Angeles Clippers and veteran guard Bogdan Bogdanovic have mutually agreed to delay the decision deadline for his $16 million team option from Friday to Monday.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, this extension aligns with the league-wide date for contract options, granting management additional time to evaluate trade scenarios.

If the front office exercises this final year, the team can immediately utilize his expiring contract as a primary salary-matching asset in ongoing trade conversations. Conversely, a declined option prevents any standard transaction, restricting the franchise to a sign-and-trade scenario if they wish to recoup assets.

This financial maneuvering follows the most challenging stretch of the Serbian shooter’s career in North America. Severe health issues severely restricted his availability, limiting him to just 23 appearances and three starts during the recent 2025–26 campaign. Over a career-low 19.7 minutes per contest, the seasoned playmaker averaged a modest 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. His efficiency metrics simultaneously plummeted to personal lows, with field goal conversions dropping to 38.8 percent alongside a 34.7 percent success rate from beyond the arc.

Given these statistical regressions, persistent physical setbacks, and the reality of his upcoming 34th birthday in August, market analysts suggest the open market will not yield a comparable $16 million starting salary.

However, his extensive international track record keeps his market value active. Rumors indicate significant interest from prominent EuroLeague clubs looking to lure the national team captain back to Europe, with the Denver Nuggets viewing the Belgrade native as an ideal free agent target who could seamlessly pair with international teammate Nikola Jokic.
