British forward OG Anunoby is already shifting his focus toward the future after a historic championship run with the New York Knicks during the 2025–26 season.
In an interview with Fadeaway World published Tuesday, the defensive anchor made it clear that despite the euphoria surrounding the franchise’s first title in over half a century, the mindset remains unchanged. “That’s everyone’s goal,” he stressed, referring to another NBA championship.
“As far as me, it’s about getting better,” he stated, emphasizing that he plans on ‘continuing to do the same things that I’ve been doing’ to facilitate individual and team improvement.
Anunoby provided a seasoned perspective on navigating the grueling NBA calendar, noting that New York must pick up where they left off with their trademark intensity. He underscored the Regular Season as a laboratory for growth rather than a finished product.
“You do want to peak toward the end of the season, and not at the beginning. So it’s about understanding that it’s an 82-game season as well as trial-and-error,” the two-time NBA champion explained. “That’s what the Regular Season is for, to figure stuff out and learn so you’re ready for the Playoffs.”
While Knicks fans still celebrate his iconic, series-altering Game 4 tip-in, the London native is already looking forward. He clarified that being over the shot means he is ‘ready for the next season’, adding, ‘It was fun winning a championship. It was amazing. But we all want to do it again’.
When asked about rival Philadelphia 76ers landing LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, Anunoby remained unfazed by the Eastern Conference competition.
“That’s what the NBA is every year,” he mentioned. “Everyone is just excited for the season to start.”
