In addition to current NBA talent like Sandro Mamukelashvili, former Los Angeles Lakers champions are also taking notice of the unique chemistry developing around the team’s off-season minicamp in Ljubljana. The international getaway, hosted by Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic, has served as a foundational block for the overhauled roster, drawing widespread acclaim for its emphasis on unity and culture.
Two-time Lakers titleholder Sasha Vujacic recently attended the Lakers Youth Foundation Golf Tournament, where he spoke with ESPN Los Angeles to praise the leadership required to organize such a global gathering.
“It’s been there, and what Luka has been doing, he’s showing the leadership,” said the Maribor native. “I’m very excited about this year. I think he’s finally a Laker, Laker. And him and AR and the team that we have, I can’t wait to watch it, and for him to bring the team to Slovenia to show them where he comes from, to show everybody what Slovenia is all about. I think they have a better understanding of what it means for him to be in L.A., and through his journey, how important it is to win. So, that’s always great to see.”
To attend the charity tourney, Vujacic briefly paused operations at his Paso Robles winery, Aleksander Wine. Even while his family actively gathers the annual grape harvest during its peak production phase, the former NBA champion prioritized supporting the foundation, demonstrating how he continuously balances a deeply rooted tradition with his passion for winemaking.
