Boston Celtics young player Hugo Gonzalez has heard his name swirling in NBA trade rumors this summer, but the rising Spanish talent remains entirely unfazed by offseason speculation.
Selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, presented by State Farm, the former Real Madrid prospect understands that sudden movement is simply a reality of life in the league.
“It’s just something that you know when you’re going to the NBA. You can get traded. I wouldn’t be the first person to get traded or the last person to get traded,” he mentioned during a recent sit-down with CLNS Media.

Instead of worrying about factors outside his control, Gonzalez is shifting his entire focus toward individual development and team success in Boston. After a decorated early run in Europe that included consecutive ACB championships in 2024 and 2025, he transitioned smoothly to the grueling pace of North America. During his rookie campaign, the versatile forward logged minutes in 78 games, averaging 3.7 points and 3.2 rebounds while flashing massive upside. His debut season was highlighted by a stunning, game-saving corner three-pointer against the Brooklyn Nets and an 18-point, 16-rebound performance against the Milwaukee Bucks.
With the 2025–26 campaign year in the books, the Madrid-born youngster wants to build on that foundation rather than dwelling on market chatter.
“We’re working for winning,” he previewed the next season with the C’s. “They know that I’m going to have the confidence to win and the courage to be 100% working hard every day.”
