Former NBA player J.R. Smith was arrested in Texas on a charge of assault causing bodily injury involving a family member, TMZ reports, citing Hunt County jail records.
Police told TMZ that an automatic license plate reader flagged the vehicle Smith was driving on Monday and alerted officers to an active warrant.
Officers pulled him over and took him into custody. Jail records cited in the report showed that no bond had been set.
Smith played 16 NBA seasons and won championships with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
