Jason Kidd could be heading from the sidelines to the television studio. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, ESPN is in advanced talks to hire the former Dallas Mavericks coach for its NBA studio coverage.
Kidd was dismissed in May after five seasons in Dallas, two weeks after Masai Ujiri was hired as president of basketball operations. Dusty May subsequently replaced him as head coach.
During his tenure, Kidd guided the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals alongside Luka Doncic, where they lost to the Boston Celtics. He previously coached the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks and served as an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Hall of Famer would bring extensive playing and coaching experience to ESPN. A 10-time All-Star and five-time NBA assists leader, Kidd won the 2011 championship with Dallas and was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
