The Golden State Warriors are dealing with growing uncertainty as Kristaps Porzingis remains away from the team with an unspecified health issue.

The 31-year-old Latvian forward-center has missed all of training camp. He is likely to be sidelined at least at the top of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season as well.

The front office is strictly guarding his privacy, leaving team doctor Rick Celebrini as the primary point of contact. Head coach Steve Kerr admitted he has not spoken to Porzingis directly, noting they have only exchanged text messages. “Nothing new to report,” he stressed on Friday.

Addressing the extended medical leave, the 61-year-old play-caller confessed the situation is ‘definitely concerning’.

In June, the Warriors re-upped the Liepaja native with a two-year extension. This setback adds to a career frequently slowed by injuries, including a diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, POTS.

Porzingis joined Golden State in February 2026 via a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. Since then, he has appeared in only 15 games for the franchise. His absence leaves a major void in the frontcourt layout.

The roster is already navigating other severe injuries, as Jimmy Butler III recovers from a torn ACL and Moses Moody rehabilitates a ruptured patellar tendon. Kerr is maintaining a pragmatic philosophy as the group prepares to play without several key pieces.

The Warriors must quickly finalize their alternative rotations over their remaining preseason matchups against the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers. They will open the Rgular Season against the Lakers at crypto.com Arena on October 21.
