Michael Jordan memorabilia has reached another record high.
An autographed, game-worn road uniform from the NBA Finals 1998 sold for $14 million on Monday.
The private sale, handled by Hunt Auctions, marks the most expensive basketball item ever purchased. It was also the second-highest price for a sports jersey of any type.

Miami real estate investor Ron Firman bought the piece, calling it a defining slice of sports history. “Michael Jordan was an incredibly talented player who is admired around the world,” he said. “I’m very excited about the purchase.”
The ultimate standard for sports collectibles belongs to His Airness. The bidding world continues to chase basketball greatness, and Jordan remains at the absolute peak.
The six-time champion wore this specific red jersey during Game 2 against the Utah Jazz on June 5, 1998. He dropped 37 points that night to pull the Chicago Bulls even in the best-of-seven championship series. Phil Jackson’s side went on to finish the series in six games with MJ collecting his sixth Finals Most Valuable Player award.
The Game 2 uniform has a perfectly clean lineage, changing hands just once since the Bulls organization originally sold it back in 2003.
Items from this final championship season, widely known as ‘The Last Dance’, remain highly coveted by collectors globally. Demand shows no signs of slowing down. This marks the third time a jersey from 1998 has cleared the $10 million threshold. Previously, his Game 1 uniform drew $10.1 million in 2022, and his Game 3 gear brought in $12.3 million.
