The Warriors on Wednesday signed veteran point guard Jose Calderon. Though Calderon, 35, was targeted by the Warriors prior to the release of young point guard Briante Weber, the team’s priorities changed with the injury to Kevin Durant on Tuesday.
Whereas Calderon’s experience made him the choice to be the team’s third-string point guard, the Warriors released Calderon – with full pay, after honoring their original agreement – to make room for veteran wing Matt Barnes.
