Ainge: “I really don’t think that the Knicks want to trade Porzingis”

According to The Vertical every team in the league talked to the Knicks about getting Porzingis during draft night, but nothing happened.

“I really don’t think New York was genuinely going to move him,’’ Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge told reporters. “That phone call was quick. I think Phil knows what he’s doing. It was a little blown out of proportion. Leave it at that. … It was more [media] talk.”

The idea is that Jackson with all this trade talk is just trying to motivate his young star and that’s why his asking price to other teams is outlandish. So even in the case that someone accepts it, then the gains of the Knicks will be mind blowing.

After all it seems that Kristaps Porzingis wants to stay in New York. Janis Porzingis,  his brother and agent said to ESPN after The Vertical report stated Jackson was indeed listening to offers.

“Despite how the Knicks are treating their players, Kris wants to stay in New York,’’ Janis Porzingis said. “He loves the city and he loves the fans and he wants to win with this team. If he’s going to be traded, he’s going to play out his contract and decide his future on his own.”
