Jordan: “Two great teams and twenty-eight garbage”

During an interview with Cigar Aficionado magazine, he expressed his disappointment.

“I think it’s going to hurt the overall aspect of the league from a competitive standpoint. You’re going to have one or two teams that are going to be great, and another 28 teams that are going to be garbage. Or they’re going to have a tough time surviving in the business environment.”, he said.

“The star players are not rushing to small markets,” he said, “so I put more emphasis on draft than I used to, because you’re not going to be able to get the LeBrons of the world to come to Charlotte.”, he continued.

Clearly, “ring chasing” is becoming a deciding factor for players during their prime but even for veterans who decide to take less money at the end of their careers in order to be crowned champs.

From a business standpoint, it’s going to be tough for Adam Silver to keep everyone happy, as players who want to leave small market teams will reach free agency one way or the other and loyalty is something than can’t be bought.
