The Memphis Grizzlies have fired head coach David Fizdale, the club officially announced.
The team’s associate head coach JB Bickerstaff will serve as interim head coach.
This decision came less than 24 hours following the 98 – 88 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, a game where Marc Gasol was benched during the fourth quarter. It was something that upset him and he expressed his frustration afterward in front of the media.
As reported by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Fizdale and Gasol’s relationship had received some blows after “confrontations in practice”.
