Pau Gasol returned to the San Antonio Spurs $2.5M in his contract buyout en route to becoming a free agent and sign with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Gasol will be joining the Bucks after reaching a buyout agreement with the Spurs.

Gasol, a former two-time NBA champion with the L.A. Lakers, will join Spanish national teammate Nikola Mirotic in Milwaukee. The Bucks will be featuring three European players, Gasol, Mirotic and franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks’ 48 – 14 record is currently the best in the NBA. Last night, the team sealed a playoff spot by beating L.A. Lakers on the road.
