Nowitzki: Porzingis shows a little more respect towards me than Luka does

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki jokingly called out Luka Doncic for the “lack of respect” shown to him when he reminisces stories from his career. One that began even before the Slovenian player was born.

“Every time I mention the past, he’s like ‘you’re so old, you’re so old’. He doesn’t listen. He’s a young man with an old soul I guess. I don’t know. He doesn’t want to hear some of the old stories,” Nowitzki said when Doncic asks questions about the Mavericks championship run of 2011, per ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

Contrary to Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis probably likes to hear more of these “tales of glory” when the German veteran talks about them.

“Porzingis? Yeah, he shows a little more respect towards me than Luka does,” Nowitzki said with a smile.

“It’s been eight years. That’s a long time,” Dirk added. Dallas will face the Heat in Miami Thursday (28/3). The game will also feature arguably the two most prominent Slovenian basketball stars, since Doncic will face Goran Dragic.
