Gregg Popovich becomes winningest coach in NBA history

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Denver Nuggets on the road on Saturday. They grabbed a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, but that wasn’t it for Gregg Popovich. The 70-year-old American head coach notched his 1,413th win in the NBA, which brought home over Lenny Wilkens and on top of the list of the coaches with the most wins combined in NBA Regular Season and Playoffs games.

Coaches come and go, but that isn’t the case for Popovich. He’s been with the Spurs for almost three decades and head coach since the 1996-97 season. In 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014 he led the Texans to the NBA Championship and launched his latest attempt for the sixth title on a historic note.
