The Phoenix Suns announced that they agreed to terms with Monty Williams to take over the head coaching position of the organization. The 47-year-old American is signing a five-year-deal according to Shams Charania of the Athletic to become the 20th head coach in franchise history.

Williams, a former NBA player, was the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans from 2010 to 2015 leading his team to 173 wins in 394 matches. He’s also worked with the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and more recently with the Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant.

Igor Kokoskov led the Suns through the 2018-19 season tallying 19 victories in 82 Regular Season contests. As the head coach of the Slovenian National Team he won the 2017 EuroBasket.
