The list of candidates for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ head coaching vacancy reportedly includes Ettore Messina. According to Marc Stein, the Cavs secured permission from the San Antonio Spurs to interview both Messina and Ime Udoka. Spaniard Jordi Fernandez is also among the coaches expected to be interviewed.
Messina, 59, has been with Gregg Popovich and the Spurs since 2014 after his second stint with CSKA Moscow. The Italian coach is consistently attracting interest from organizations searching for a head coach, but has yet to take over an NBA team.
Udoka, 41, and his Spurs counterpart join a growing list of possible replacements for Drew, which includes Fernandez. J.B. Bickerstaff, Alex Jensen, Jamahl Mosley and Wes Unseld Jr. are also among the candidates per various reports.
