Deividas Sirvydis was the 37th pick of the 2019 NBA draft. The Dallas Mavericks actually selected the 19-year-old Lithuanian guard, but the Detroit Pistons had already put their claim on the 37th pick and Sirvydis himself.

“I was so excited that my legs were shaking” the young player admitted afterwards to 24sek and added: “It was even hard to step on the podium. I still feel like I’m dreaming. I still haven’t recovered. It’s unreal.”

The dream doesn’t end here, on draft night, because the talented guard will have his chance to prove his value to the Pistons and claim a spot in the 2019-20 roster. “Detroit is a great organization. I already talked with Dwane Casey who is amazing coach. I want to go to the Pistons to adjust and help them” he said.

Sirvydis will travel to USA and train individually, before making his way to Detroit. He is expected to be part of the Summer League roster of the Pistons and from there try to secure a spot in Dwane Casey’s final squad for the upcoming NBA Regular Season.
