Davis Bertans sets new career-high vs. Hornets

Davis Bertans scored a career-high 32 points on 8/12 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds in the Washington Wizards’ 114 – 107 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on the road.

Bertans came off the bench to set his new scoring record in the NBA. The Latvian forward played 30 minutes and was overall a +17 for Washington.

“The guy is a bucket-getter,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said of Bertans, per AP. “Every shot is a great shot because it’s always squared up. He has a great release. It’s such a high release and he’s 6-10.”

French center Ian Mahinmi added nine points for the Wizards. From the Hornets, French forward Nicolas Batum spent 13 minutes on the court and went for 0/2. Spanish center Willy Hernangomez didn’t play.

Serbian center Nikola Jokic had 15 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds and scored the basket for the 95 – 92 with 18 seconds left in the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Joel Embiid though went on to hit 2/2 from the line for his team to win 97 – 92.

Turkish wing Furkan Korkmaz scored six points with 2/4 triples on the 17 minutes he played.
