Israeli guard Noam Yaacov will not play for the University of Utah during the 2026-27 season after the NCAA rejected his eligibility waiver, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein and KSL’s Steve Bartle.
Utah subsequently confirmed that Yaacov’s appeal was denied on August 20, although the specific reasons for the decision were not disclosed.
“Given the outcome, Noam will pursue other playing opportunities, and we wish him the very best moving forward,” Utah head coach Alex Jensen said.
Yaacov, who turns 22 this year, enjoyed a breakout season with Filou Oostende, averaging 17.4 points, 5.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds in the BNXT League. He was among the three finalists for the league’s MVP award and helped Oostende reach the Belgian championship finals.
The Israeli guard also attended the G League Draft Combine and participated in scrimmages at the NBA Draft Combine but was not selected in the 2026 NBA Draft.
