The Cleveland Cavaliers are in France for the upcoming 2024 NBA Paris Game against the Brooklyn Nets at Accor Arena, and Donovan Mitchell hopes to return to the City of Light next summer.

The 27-year-old aims to play for the USA national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics and expects tough competition for the medals.

That’s the goal, representing Team USA. It’s going to be a tough task; there are a lot of good teams out there, like France, Canada, Spain, Serbia… I look forward to coming out here and making the team to be here in the summer,Mitchell said to the First Team upon landing in France.

The Cavs’ star already represented Team USA at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, playing eight matches and averaging 13.1 points and five assists but didn’t secure a medal, as the squad led by Gregg Popovich finished in a historically low seventh place in the final standings.

Team USA also missed out on a medal at the previous 2023 FIBA World Cup but is defending the gold at the Olympics after a successful campaign in Tokyo in 2021.

With the ticket for Paris already punched, the USA is expected to face Serbia and Australia in exhibition games in Abu Dhabi before the Olympic tournament, as well as Germany and South Sudan.

Many stars have already expressed their willingness to participate, such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and even Joel Embiid.
