According to ESPN, the Australian national team is in advanced talks to schedule two exhibition games against Team USA and Serbia ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The matches are expected to be played in Abu Dhabi.
If all goes as planned for the Boomers, they should meet the defending Olympic champions and the 2023 World Cup silver medalists in the middle of July.
Australia will then move to Europe for some more preparatory matches before the start of the Olympic tournament, scheduled for July 26.
The Boomers fell short in the previous major tournament, securing just the 10th place in the 2023 FIBA World Cup but earning automatic qualification to the Olympics as the best team from the Oceania region.
In the previous Olympic tournament in Tokyo, Australia won a bronze medal.
