After being eliminated in the Western Conference Semifinals, 2024 NBA MVP Nikola Jokic said he “needs to think” about participating with the Serbian national team at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Serbian outlet Maxbet Sport reported that the three-time NBA MVP will play at the Paris tournament, which provoked a response from Serbian head coach Svetislav Pesic.
“A Twitter journalist published fake news… When the time comes, you will get real information,” Pesic reportedly said to B92.sport.
After winning the NBA Championship last season, Jokic didn’t play for his national team at the 2023 World Cup, where Serbia won the silver medal.
The last time he wore the Serbian jersey was at the 2022 EuroBasket, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Italy.
So far, representing his national team, the Denver Nuggets star has only won silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro
