The opening round of the 2021-22 edition of Israel’s Winner League was postponed, the league announced Sunday.

The next season was initially scheduled to start during the first weekend of October but was moved to the second. The latest health and safety guidelines issued with the Israeli government regarding the coronavirus pandemic leads to the required quarantine for foreign players entering the country and the start date from 2 to 9 October.

The 2020-21 schedule features a round-robin format for the 12 participating teams. The sides will then be split into two new groups based on ranking and from there the six of the upper group plus the top two of the bottom group will advance to the Playoffs.

The 2020-21 season concluded 17 June with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv crowned champion for the 55th time in team history.
