Maccabi prevails in a double-overtime thriller

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv edged Hapoel Yossi Avrahami Eilat, 101-95, in a battle stretching into second overtime on Sunday evening.

Former Xavier standout, Jalen Reynolds poured a team-high 24 points lasting 35 minutes. His ten rebounds made out a double-double to go along with four blocks, three assists, and seven earned fouls.

James Nunnally paired 18 points with six rebounds and five assists in the exciting Winner League Regular Season Round 6 contest. Roman Sorkin piled up 13 points, nine rebounds, and four rejections. Scottie Wilbekin added 12 points and eight assists but also committed six turnovers.

Experienced American guard Bryon Allen, a George Mason player from 2010 until 2014, dropped 38 points behind 14/20 field goals, including seven three-pointers. He was instrumental in the visitors digging their way out of a double-digit hole but fouled out as his side fell short of the upset.

Keenan Evans, Angelo Caloiaro, and Derrick Williams were rested by the team led by Greek mastermind Giannis Sfairopoulos ahead of the upcoming Turkish Airlines EuroLeague double-game week. Maccabi, currently carrying a 6-3 W-L tally, is set to host AS Monaco on Wednesday and visit Olympiacos on Friday.

The 4-2 domestic record is half a win behind league-leading Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem sitting at 4-1. Hapoel U-NET Holon and Hapoel Nofar Energy Galil Elyon are also 4-2 in the Israeli League.
