Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Be’er Sheva/Dimona 106–90 on Monday night to take a 1–0 lead in their Israeli League quarterfinal playoff series.
The visitors stayed competitive for three quarters and cut the deficit to just two points during the third period, but Maccabi’s superior depth and quality proved decisive in the final frame as the hosts pulled away for a comfortable win.
Jaylen Hoard led Maccabi with 20 points, while Roman Sorkin added 17. Jasiel Rivero contributed 14 points in his return from injury.
Damian Dunn scored a game-high 27 points for Be’er Sheva, but foul trouble hurt the visitors down the stretch, with several key players limited as Maccabi took control.
Game 2 will be played on Wednesday in Be’er Sheva, where Maccabi will look to complete the sweep and advance to the semifinals.
