Hapoel Tel Aviv offer Skourtopoulos head coaching job

Hapoel Tel Aviv hopes to secure Thanasis Skourtopoulos’ services ahead of the 2019-20 season. Eurohoops confirmed Sport 5’s report on the Israeli club making on offer to the 54-year-old head coach. The team is now awaiting an answer from the boss of the Greek National Team.

Aside from this successful tenure at the Greek National Team from 2017, Skourtopoulos has worked with various Greek sides since beginning his coaching career in 2000. If he indeed covers the head coaching vacancy of Hapoel Tel Aviv, he will take over a club outside his country he was born or Cyprus for the first time.

It’s worth noting that the 2019 FIBA World Cup might create a problem, because the 2019-20 Israeli Super League season is set to kick off less than two weeks after the conclusion of the tournament at China.

Potentially joining Hapoel Tel Aviv will bring him in the same city with his compatriot Ioannis Sfairopoulos, head coach of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv.
