Lighty leads ASVEL past Monaco

David Lighty scored 24 points on near-perfect shooting (9/11 including 5/5 triples) to lead ASVEL Villeurbanne to a 95 – 83 win over AS Monaco in a postponed game for Round 24 of the French Jeep Elite regular season.

The two teams are now tied 21 – 4 at the top of the standings.

The game was a close contest until ASVEL had an 8-0 run to lead 53 – 43 in the mid of the third period. Monaco cut the deficit to 71 – 66 but then the hosts achieved a decisive 9-0 run to claim a 14-point advantage, 80 – 66 with three minutes remaining. There was no turning back from that.

Matthew Strazel added 17 points for ASVEL while Jordan Taylor scored 14 and Davion Berry 13. For Monaco, Elmedin Kikanovic dropped 16 points, Dee Bost contributed 14 points and Anthony Clemmons with Norris Cole 12 points apiece. Eric Buckner scored 10.
