Victor Wembanyama joins Metropolitans 92 with a two-year deal

Victor Wembanyama has signed a two-year deal with French side Boulogne Metropolitans 92, the club officially announced Monday.

2004-born Wembanyama posted averages of 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds across 18 minutes in the French Betclic Elite in 2021-22 with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and was voted as the league’s Rising Star.

The French big also got his first EuroLeague experience with ASVEL this past season and averaged 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 17:29 minutes in 13 games.

“I am very happy to commit to Metropolitans. The club is very ambitious. I look forward to helping the team achieve its goals,” said Wembanyama upon the announcement of his signing.

“I am delighted that Victor Wembanyama has chosen to join the Metropolitans 92. We are proud to welcome him here in Levallois. Victor is one of the greatest hopes of world basketball, his arrival is fully in line with the club’s development project,” added the club’s head coach Vincent Collet.
