Bayern Munich cruises past Ulm to secure German Cup triumph

Once again, Bayern Munich is the German Cup champion.

Pablo Laso secured his first trophy at the Bavarians’ bench, leading his side to a convincing 81-65 victory over Ratiopharm Ulm in the final.

Sylvain Francisco led Bayern Munich against the defending BBL champions with 17 points, while Andreas Obst followed with 13 points. The French international received the MVP award.

Three players added nine points each: Elias Harris, captain Vladimir Lucic, and Serge Ibaka, who was three boards shy of a double-double, as Bayern claimed German Cup glory for the second consecutive time, fifth overall.

As for Ulm, LJ Figueroa and Juan Nunez, with 17 points apiece, stood out, while Pacome Dadiet added 12.

After losing the first quarter 9-18, Bayern Munich took over midway through the second period and never looked back. They led 35-28 after 20 minutes, increased their advantage to 59-47 after three quarters, and maintained it throughout the final period to win the Cup comfortably.
