Zenit Saint Petersburg and Xavi Pascual have agreed on a contract extension, according to Donatas Urbonas. The new agreement is expected to be announced soon.

According to the prior reports by Encestando, the coach has signed a two-year deal, until June 2023.

Pascual took over the head coaching role at Zenit in February 2020, completing the run in which the team finished last in the EuroLeague standings with an 8-20 record before the season was suspended.

This campaign, however, Pascual transformed Zenit and paced the team to a 20-14 record including some impressive wins as they secured a spot in the EuroLeague playoffs for the first time ever. The team will clash against the first-placed Barcelona in the quarterfinals.

Zenit’s results in the VTB League have been no less impressive as the team secured the top spot in front of the playoffs, ahead of UNICS, Lokomotiv and CSKA.
