CSKA Moscow big man Nikola Milutinov went down two minutes in the new EuroLeague season after clashing with Gigi Datome’s arm in the fight for a rebound and had to leave the court with support from his teammates.

Milutinov laid down in pain, holding his knee before heading to the lockers to be treated by the team’s medical staff, and never returned to the game.

Following Milan’s win, CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis addressed the severity of Milutinov’s injury.

“He will need to undergo an MRI. It doesn’t look good”, Itoudis commented laconically. It should be noted that Milutinov has just returned to action coming from a season-ending shoulder injury in early 2021.

“Wishing the best to Nikola Milutinov, it’s always sad when you see a player get hurt”, said Milan coach Ettore Messina in the post-game press conference.

Milutinov’s status is expected to be updated by CSKA in the coming hours.
