Zalgiris Kaunas released Zoran Dragic upon mutual agreement, the team announced Friday.

The experienced Slovenian swingman, younger brother of NBA player Goran Dragic, had joined the Lithuanian powerhouse a couple of months ago.

Zalgiris will not look for a replacement, as noted.

Per the press release: “Zoran Dragic is leaving Zalgiris Kaunas. The contract with 32-year-old Slovenian was cut on mutual agreement.

The experienced forward had joined Zalgiris on the last day of October. He played in 9 EuroLeague games averaging 3,9 points and 1,2 rebounds.

Dragic also participated in 4 Lithuanian League matches, scoring 6,3 points and grabbing 1,2 rebounds per game.

Zalgiris wants to thank Dragic for his work and wishes good luck in his future career. Lithuanian champions aren’t looking for any replacement at the moment.”

The team coached by Jure Zdovc sits at the bottom of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague table with three wins over the first 16 games of the 2021-22 Regular Season. Domestically, a 13-1 W-L tally leads the Betsafe LKL standings half a game ahead of rival Rytas Vilnius.

Dragic, 32, made his way to 16 NBA games between the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat through the 2014-15 Regular Season. He also made four G League appearances with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

In EuroLeague, the brief stint at Zalgiris upped his games played total to 152. He previously registered 143 appearances as a member of Unicaja Malaga, Khimki Moscow Region, Olimpia Milano, Anadolu Efes, and Baskonia. Other previous teams included ratiopharm Ulm, Trieste, Krka, and Slovan.
