Sasha Djordjevic was found positive for COVID-19 in the latest test, Fenerbahce Beko announced Monday.

Djordjevic, 54, was sidelined through the weekend missing the BSL Regular Season Round 17 game against Aliaga Petkim Spor. His side lost in overtime Sunday.

Despite initially testing negative for COVID-19, the Serbian tactician displayed symptoms of coronavirus and returned to Istanbul as a precautionary measure instead of staying with the team in Izmir. He has been isolated and following valid health and safety protocols, as noted by Fener.

After being forced down to 13-3 with two BSL losses in a row, the team based in Istanbul is set to host Buyukcekmece in a rescheduled Round 15 fixture Tuesday. Another home game follows Sunday opposite Bahcesehir Koleji in Round 18.

Between the domestic affairs, the Turkish giant is scheduled to welcome Zalgiris Kaunas Thursday. An 8-10 W-L tally paints the picture of its Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign ahead of the Regular Season Round 22 contest. The Lithuanian side ranks last out of the 18 teams with a poor 3-14 record.

In July, Djordjevic had replaced Igor Kokoskov as the new head coach. He penned a three-year contract.

The former EuroLeague champion as a player spent the previous two seasons guiding Virtus Segafredo Bologna. Success included the 2019 Basketball Champions League title and the 2021 LBA Serie A championship.

Other previous stints stretch from Olimpia Milano and Benetton Treviso to Panathinaikos and FC Bayern Munich. In addition, he coached the Serbia senior national team between 2013 and 2019.
