Adrien Moerman has signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional season to move to AS Monaco, the team announced Friday.

“After four years in Turkey and experience winning the EuroLeague two years in a row, I needed a new challenge. Monaco met all possible expectations,” the newcomer explained his decision to join La Roca Team after enjoying a successful run at Anadolu Efes, “It’s a club aiming to keep building and sets big goals.”

Moerman, 33, was part of the ambitious project of the Istanbul outfit eventually becoming the 2021 and 2022 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions. He joined Efes in 2018. Besides the back-to-back European titles, his efforts helped in also capturing multiple domestic championships, a couple of BSL titles, one Turkish Cup, and two Turkish Presidential Cups.

“I really wanted to play in the EuroLeague again,” Moerman added in the interview attached to the press release, roughly translated with the helping hand of Google, “I still want to challenge myself physically. I feel good and really wanted to take up this challenge.”

A lengthy career in the premier European club continental competition is among the incoming perks for La Roca Team. The experienced forward has logged 223 appearances with his debut dating back to the 2009-10 season and his stint at Entente Orleanaise, now called Orleans Loiret Basket.

Working under an increased budget and also throwing more French players in the mix this offseason, Monaco already landed Jaron Blossomgame, John Brown III, Jordan Loyd, Elie Okobo, and Matthew Strazel in the span of one week. Coming back from the 2021-22 season are Alpha Diallo, Donta Hall, Mike James, Yakuba Ouattara, and head coach Sasha Obradovic.
