Panathinaikos fined €24,000 for Game 5 court invasion and flares

Panathinaikos AKTOR defeated Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in Game 5 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and, therefore, advanced to the Final Four in Berlin.

After the final buzzer, fans stormed the pitch to celebrate with the players, which eventually resulted in a fine for the Athens club.

EuroLeague announced disciplinary sanctions for what they call “incidents that occurred around Game 5”.

Panathinaikos Aktor Athens has been sanctioned with fines amounting up to €24,000 for the lighting of flares and the court invasion following the end of the game on the occasion of its home game against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv under Article 29.2.e, and i) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code, respectively.
