Olympiacos is just one win away from reaching the EuroLeague Final Four, as they defeated Monaco 94-64 in the second game held in Piraeus.
Two days after a convincing victory in Game 1, the Greek team celebrated once again, putting themselves in a great position for the continuation of the series.
After the match, Georgios Bartzokas spoke to EuroLeague TV, stating that his team was under pressure and that he expects a response from Monaco.
“These two wins were very important, and we were under pressure. We had to protect our home court, and we did so emphatically tonight, but I believe they have pride and will return in the next game, they will play hard, and we must be ready for that. Tonight, they lost Mike James with two technical fouls, Theis due to injury, and they have a small roster. It wasn’t easy for them to keep up with the pace. I am very happy. Once again, a fantastic Playoffs atmosphere, and I am grateful for it. We have to continue like this.”
Once again, he emphasized the effort of the entire team to reach this situation.
“We try. It’s not just me trying. It’s the whole organization, my staff, and the program we have, those who don’t play as much, to train harder so that everyone is ready and we have the team where we want it. It’s difficult because we have a deep roster, but I honestly believe that the continuous games have helped us a lot.”
