American–born naturalized point guard Chris Jones officially joined Serbian powerhouse Crvena Zvezda on a multi-year contract to anchor their backcourt for the upcoming 2026–27 season. The deal was announced on Wednesday, confirming rumors about his next EuroLeague destination.

The summer transfer window bursts open with the Belgrade outfit completing a massive tactical upgrade in the backcourt. Standing at 1.88 meters, the Texas native arrives with a stellar reputation as a highly reliable playmaker who consistently prioritizes collective success over individual statistics. The veteran floor general transitions to the Serbian capital directly from fellow EuroLeague participant Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv, where he orchestrated efficient offensive sets and made over 40% from beyond the arc on 137 attempts in continental action during his 2025-26 journey in Europe’s premier club competition. He ended up with 10.0 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per contest over 42 games played, including four starts.

The first offseason signing for Zvezda, shortly following the arrival of Ibon Navarro as the new head coach, surely represents a major victory for the front office after navigating intense competition across the continent for the services of Jones.

His decade-long professional journey stretches from early Most Valuable Player honors in Switzerland to winning domestic championships in Israel and France. This wealth of EuroLeague experience, amounting to 168 appearances since 2020 with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, Valencia, and Hapoel Tel Aviv, will immediately elevate the roster as management continues reshaping the lineup for the rigorous winter schedule ahead.
