Following his standout 2025–26 season in Germany and strong performances with the senior national team of Canada, Marcus Carr joined Virtus Bologna in the EuroLeague. The deal was announced on Monday.

The 1999-born playmaker takes a massive step forward after proving his elite efficiency and incisiveness on the European stage. During the Basketball Champions League Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL, Carr tallied 17.5 points, 6.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game over 14 appearances with Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets. His stellar contributions guided the club into the competitive Round of 16. The 1.88-meter combo guard was equally impactful domestically in Germany’s easyCredit BBL, where he registered a highly productive average of 16.7 points along with 5.6 assists.

Since launching his professional career in 2023, the talented Canadian has accumulated diverse international experience with previous playing stints across Greece and Israel. This steady development paved the way for his excellence on the global stage. A regular fixture for his country since 2024, the Toronto native recently excelled in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, logging 27.8 minutes per night across four appearances for 17.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per contest. His journey with Canada stretches back even further, including senior caps in the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 and junior action during the FIBA Americas U16 Championship back in 2015.

The storied Italian club previously welcomed Rasheed Bello, Bobi Klintman, Davide Casarin, and Tommaso Baldasso, while re-signing Daniel Hackett and Mouhamet Diouf, and hiring Alex Mumbru as the new head coach ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.Β The next offseason step was penning Carr to a multi-year agreement that includes a future team option.
